EVENT UPDATE - NEW LOCATION: As many of you know, EVENT UPDATE - NEW LOCATION: As many of you know, January weather can be unforgiving for outdoor events. As much as we wanted to do a group ride with Kidical Mass/Hardt Family Cyclery this Sunday, the combination of extremely low temperatures and still icy bike paths means we are going to move this conversation inside the Hardt Family Cyclery's shop (10255 E 25th Ave, Unit A1) on the same day (Sunday Jan 29) and same time (11AM).

We'll have heat, coffee, and hot chocolate to enjoy with your family while you hear Brad's vision for safe bike infrastructure in District 8. Feel free to bring questions, concerns, and ideas to help inform his plan to make our streets safer for kids, seniors, and families to walk and bike throughout District 8!

I recently had the privilege to visit with Yeshi, I recently had the privilege to visit with Yeshi, who owns one of our family’s favorite ice cream shops in District 8, Walia Creamery in East Colfax, and her store next door, Wholesome Remedies. Grateful for the feedback she gave on how the City could better help small businesses like hers as well as the delicious lavender ice cream! Go visit!
It was an inspirational MLK Day as we took the fam It was an inspirational MLK Day as we took the family to listen to Denver leaders and march in the Marade (my youngest wanted to get out of the wagon and go lead it) with neighbors and candidates. It was also an honor to attend the Colorado Black Roundtable's event this afternoon at the Park Hill Golf Club, where there was a candidate reception, a discussion on what do black boys need, and honoring the future black men leaders of tomorrow. My takeaway is that everyone in Denver can and must do better in order to honor Dr. King's legacy.

The strength of District 8 is the diversity of its The strength of District 8 is the diversity of its people. Like my household, it is composed of people of different backgrounds, faiths, and this time of year, different celebrations. To all who celebrated Hanukkah, Christmas, or currently Kwanzaa, I hope it has been a joyous time. While my family has been in COVID quarantine this week, my daughter and I took time this afternoon to tune in to a virtual presentation on the third day of Kwanzaa focused on the principle of Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility).
We are officially on the ballot! Thanks Denver Ele We are officially on the ballot! Thanks Denver Elections for letting us know we are the first to qualify in District 8. I want to thank the hundreds of people in District 8 who were ready to sign my petition with 24 hours notice. Let’s go win this in April!
I am proud to announce that due to the hard work o I am proud to announce that due to the hard work of our amazing volunteers and neighbors over the last few cold, cold days, I am the first candidate in District 8 to turn in their petition signatures to qualify for the ballot! The City will now determine if we turned in enough valid signatures to meet the threshold to qualify.

In addition to our volunteers, I wanted to say thank you to the many people in District 8 who raised their hand and braved the cold to open their doors and sign.

But perhaps most of all, I want to say thank you to my three year old, who begrudgingly let me borrow her clipboards that display her art she makes in daycare to use to hold our petition packets. They have been returned to their rightful place on the wall in our home.
At a recent meet and greet, I asked attendees to d At a recent meet and greet, I asked attendees to donate food to those in need rather than donate to my campaign. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to donate over 60 canned food items to the East Colfax Food Bank today. Thanks East Colfax Neighborhood Association and other incredible neighborhood groups, as well as th amazing volunteers I met for helping fight food insecurity this holiday season. Please consider donating food to food banks around District 8!

I had a blast attending the first Ballots and Beer I had a blast attending the first Ballots and Beers event put on by Central Park United Neighbors and the Foundation for Sustainable Urban Communities at FlyteCo Tower! It was great to see so many come out to get educated on ballot measures. Afterwards I had the pleasure of connecting with a group of longtime residents to discuss District 8 issues.

It was a perfect fall Saturday to go tour District It was a perfect fall Saturday to go tour District 8 by bike with Mayoral candidate Kelly Brough and a few District 8 residents! I hope to host as many candidates for Mayor as possible to ensure they know both about the success stories in District 8’s safe streets as well as where we need strong leadership to make our streets safer. I made sure we stopped by 13th and Syracuse in East Colfax to witness where Central Park resident Steve Perkins tragically lost his life to a driver who ran a red light and is remembered by a ghost bike.

Thank you to the National Organization of African Thank you to the National Organization of African Americans in Housing for inviting me to your conference today at the @Center for African American Health. I have several pages of notes and ideas from speakers talking about the importance of helping seniors age in place, safety and security, as well as housing as the vehicle to multigenerational wealth in the community.
Great to be at the Mosaic Community Campus for the Great to be at the Mosaic Community Campus for their block party today. It was fun chatting with Denver School of the Arts families, the Kitchen Network, @urbanlandc , Archway Communities, and @denverhousingauthority on how they are leveraging community land trusts and adaptive reuse to activate this campus in District 8 into a community with affordable housing, much needed school campus expansion, and providing a platform to help immigrants and refugees launch food businesses. This is how you help everyone thrive. Special shout out to DIRT Coffee for the tasty coffee made by their excellent staff!
